Google has just released it’s ambitious internet TV plans.
And nestled amongst all the exciting stuff was something really exciting, and that is: how they’re going to roll it out.
Google is planning on doing something that Apple would never ever dream of doing.
Google’s TV platform is – within 18 months – going to be open source. Below is Google’s (broad) strategy
With all the concerns about Apple’s 3.3.1 clause, refusal to support Adobe flash, censoring of app’s for a variety of reasons, including sometimes if they’re not classy enough, and the censoring of nipples even if they’re under a shirt, it’s not hard to see that developers and creativity is going to pour into Google TV and the Android quicker than you can say “how do I ebay my iPhone?”
